GEODE Music & Poetry
Geode members: Jennifer Giles, Alrick Huebner and Susan McMasterFollowing its formation in 1995, the music-poetry combo, GEODE performed in the Ottawa Folk Festival, Blue Skies, the Elora Fringe, the Kingston Jazz Fringe, the Ottawa International Writers' Festival, Poetry in the Park, and in such venues as the National Arts Centre and the National Gallery of Canada.
GEODE’s first recording, Dangerous Times, was released in 1997. It was followed by 1998’s CD, SugarBeat Music & Poetry. A third recording, on which they are joined by musical friends Mike Essoudry and Petr Cancura, GEODE Music & Poetry came out in 2000. The CD, Until the Light Bends, with David Broscoe, John Higney, Jamie Gullikson and Mark Molnar was released in 2004.
On February 16, see poet Susan McMaster perform with musicians, Alrick Huebener (bass), Jennifer Giles (keyboards), David Broscoe (winds), John Higney (steel guitar) and Mike Essoudry (percussion). GEODE's inimitable repertoire blends poetry with music drawn from a variety of genres including jazz, blues, new music, world music, contemporary and classical. And on February 16, see a performance of WordMusic with special guest Dean Steadman!
Gallery 101 is located at 301 1/2 Bank Street, upstairs, in between Somerset and MacLaren streets.
Please note that admission and seating begin at 7:30pm and the performance starts at 8pm.
