Michelle Desbarats

Photo courtesy of Pearl PirieMichelle Desbarats is the author of Last Child to Come Inside (Ottawa ON: Harbinger / Carleton University Press, 1998) and the chapbook Eve'n Adam (Ottawa ON: above/ground press, 1998), later included in Groundswell: best of above/ground press, 1993-2003 (Fredericton NB: Broken Jaw Press, 2003). She was born in Winnipeg, grew up in Montreal and Charlottetown, and currently resides in Ottawa. Her work has appeared in Transpoetry, Burnt Toast, Speak!, Meltwater, CBC Radio and she was a finalist in the CBC Literary Awards, most recently in 2005. On November 21st, Michelle will read two short sets (intermission between); one set will be comprised of work taken from a second manuscript on which she's currently working.
